As a small business owner, you are always looking for ways to get more bang for your buck. One easy way to do this is by trimming your ads. Look at some of your marketing materials and decide if any of them can be reduced in size. For example, instead of sending out a postcard featuring one promotional deal, split the card in half and feature two separate offerings. Keep the text short and sweet. Consumers want to understand the ad within a few seconds.

Go through your brochures, too. Can you edit or update the content? Free up some space by removing boring graphics?

In marketing, as in life, it is important to keep things fresh. When we become complacent, we are unable to thrive. However, when we expose ourselves to new things, our senses come alive.

As a small business owner, you must do your best to keep your marketing techniques fresh. Don’t mail out postcards every month. Your customers will expect them, become bored, and toss them in the trash. For a simple solution, try rotating your marketing techniques. Create brochures one month and flyers another. Instead of using that same old sandwich board outside your ice-cream store, design an eye-catching banner. Give your dated business cards a makeover, too!

These changes are certain to grab people’s attention and draw more customers to your small business.

When brainstorming about how to market your business in the upcoming months, consider themed advertising. Create designs and special offers that complement the time of year. For example, kick of the summer beach season with a “buy two, get one free” sale at your used book store. Or have a special offer for back-to-school at your ice-cream shop. Kids who get an “A” on their report card get a free ice-cream cone. Take advantage of the “dog days of summer.” Create a special sale, or host an event to attract customers!

Keep themed ideas in mind when designing your postcards or flyers. Upload your own design or customize an online template.

As a small business owner, your time and resources are limited. However, your marketing strategy should be a top priority. One of the easiest ways to covey professionalism is to have your marketing materials complement each other.

Your business cards, address labels, letterhead, envelopes, postcards, and pens do not need to march exactly. However, they should complement each other. Once you perfect your logo, decide what products you need most. Be sure to include all relevant contact information in the design , so it will be at your clients’ fingertips. The colors and themes should mesh nicely, and all your marketing materials should go with each other if they were combined in a package.

Having custom marketing materials is important, but it isn’t difficult to accomplish. For example, Vistaprint is a great resource for small businesses. Vistaprint makes it simple to design marketing materials. Simply upload your own creation, browse online galleries, or work with creative services to find the perfect design for your business. Vistaprint also offers free business cards, pens, and more. All you pay is shipping!

Customize your marketing materials today!

Are save the date postcards useful?

You’ve got so many things to do to get ready for your big event. You need to talk to caterers, get the right outfit, set up tables and chairs and decide what to do in case the weather is bad. As you check off tasks, you can’t avoid that niggling feeling that you’ve forgotten something. Then it hits you you don’t have invitations ready and you need to make sure people know they need to keep the day of the event free on their calendars right away! You don’t have time to call all of the potential guests to tell them about the event, especially since some of them are rumored to have literally talked people’s ears off. Then you remember save the date postcards. Perfect!

Save the date postcards are a great option for people who don’t have all the details of an event finalized, but do know what day the event will be held on. They are often used when someone is planning an event that will be far in the future, such as a wedding that is a year or more away. When ordering these handy postcards, dont forget to double check the information before finalizing your order. You wouldnt want to accidentally tell everyone to save the wrong date.
