A Fun Stamp Design Project
Are you looking for an idea for a fun afternoon project that you can do with the kids? If so, try designing your own custom stamps together. Take a little bit of time to explain what you will be doing, then sit down and go to VistaPrint’s Website to show them what you are talking about. Once they have had a look, you can get started on a design of your own.
First of all, have the children choose a font for their name. Try out a variety of different styles and see what they settle on. You can do more than one stamp per child if you like as well–they are not prohibitively expensive. Once you settle on a look for their name, decide what other text you would like to drop in. If you are using a template you can add the address easily and make the stamp a more practical item. If you prefer, you can do a few cool graphics and make it a “fun” stamp instead.
Once the designs are finished, you will have the opportunity to review them, make any changes and then place the order. Depending on the age of your children, you may want to have them help you with this process as well. It can be a great learning experience.
When the stamps arrive the kids will probably be anxious to try them out. Grab some construction paper and set up a table with crayons, glitter, the stamps, washable ink and any other materials you want to use. Spend some time creating “artwork” with the newly arrived stamps and enjoy your time together. You can create cards to send out to relatives, make pictures to give as gifts or simply play around with designs.
Making stamps with the kids can be a fun project as well as a good teaching experience. Coming up with a custom design and personalizing the stamps is enjoyable and making art projects with the kids allows for an afternoon of creative play. You can even do this project yearly as the children grow and mature. Each time the stamp will be a little bit different.
You can also opt to do this project another way. Rather than make the stamps together, you can create a custom stamp for each of your children. They make thoughtful gifts and can be added to Easter baskets or wrapped up for use as a rainy day present. Choose a font and design that reflects the personality of each child.
